Early first version of this canvas gun case, made in Khaki canvas with a full length zipper and 2 leather strips with a female portion of a snap on the right side, the early cases were made from both khaki and OD green canvas, the khaki was early WW2. These cases were used in Half Tracks and Tanks to hold a Thompson, the only problem with them being they could not hold a gun with a magazine inserted, this was fixed with the second variation later in the war. Stenciled on the front is:
COVER THOMPSON SUB-MACHINE GUN CAL .45 D50268
The second variation also carried the D50268 numbering, the second variation being made from OD green canvas.
In good condition, the zipper is a little stiff but no holes or rips in the canvas, the case is complete.
