Lot 040 – WW2 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun Numbered Buttplate (Early)- Savage

Original WW2 very early production 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun Buttplate stamped with the number 1389 in excellent NOs un-issued condition. These numbered buttstplates were used in the beginning 1940 Savage production of 1928 Thompson Submachine Guns till about the 15 000 serial number range (approximately).  This is a very early one numbered 1389 and has a nice blued finish not the darker typical WW2 finish. Numbering was done very early on since Savage was copying from the original Colt production of Thompson’s from the early 1920’s, Savage stopped it very early on because it was no longer needed and slowed down the guns production.
