Lot 077 – 1920’s Remington – Peters Thompson Cartridge (1)

Original .45 Remington-Peters Thompson Cartridge (1) in excellent condition, short lived production specifically designed for the Model 1923 Thompson Submachine Gun. The gun never went into full production so the cartridge was also abandoned. It is a 45 automatic Colt but the case is 1/8 longer than the standard 45 acp cartridge and topped with a pointed bullet. The hopes of Auto-Ordnance was the combination of a more powerful cartridge combined with a longer barrel would make the gun closer to a “rifle” type of firearm, this theory did not hold true, the cartridge was little better than the standard 45 acp used int he 1921 Thompson Submachine Gun.
