1960’s Western Cartridge Company 45 Cartridge Wooden Crate which held 12 Cartridges in 2 steel boxes (50 cal style box), it is complete except one end panel is missing – this is how they got the 2 steel tins out but the rest is complete and excellent. Well marked on the panels and held together by steel wire.
This is the final packing of the 45 acp cartridges, starting with a 2000 Cartridge Wooden Crate with (2) 1000 cartridge cardboard boxes inside. Then they produced an 1800 Cartridge Wooden Crate with (2) 900 cartridge cardboard boxes inside. This was followed by the 1200 Cartridge Wooden Crate with (2) 600 cartridge steel tins inside. Then in the late 1950’s or 1960’s they came up with the last version (this one in the LOT) which placed all the protection for the cartridges on the steel box which held the 50 cartridge cardboard boxes, they were placed 600 per steel tin (50 call ammo box style) inside a thing wooden crate with wire holding it together. Very rare to find these Wooden Crates, all seem to have been destroyed, the only one I have ever had or seen in 30 years.
